Shawna Machado is a graduate of the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee and holds a master’s degree in social work. During her education, she focused on creating trauma-informed solutions for vulnerable children in the community. She currently works for Pathways Human Services counseling families involved in the dependency system. Shawna also holds other board positions in Sarasota County, advocating for people of all populations.

Shawna is a graduate of the Gulf Coast Leadership Institute, and a recipient of multiple accolades, including Outstanding Gradate Award, Florida Commission on the Status of Women State Achievement Award, and the Local and State Award for the National Association of Social Worker’s Student Social Worker of the Year.

Future goals include completing her current endeavors of a Child Law and Policy Degree. Shawna desires to create a community where all citizens can thrive, focusing on the human aspect for governmental policy action and collaborating with community to invoke positive change.
